Holmen: The former naval area between Refshaleøen and Christianshavn

Foto: Martin Heiberg

From naval area to a calm waterside oasis in the city, Holmen is home to the Opera, noma and a calming, secluded vibe.

Made up by a small series of islands, Holmen is tucked in between the neighbourhoods of Refshaleøen and Christianshavn which is also worth exploring while in the area.

Holmen is not exactly packed with attractions, but is more a small, local hub where locals enjoy themselves while jumping in the water by the Opera House. Partly residential and partly built on its naval history, Holmen is a place of its own.

Christianshavn

Just like Holmen, the adjacent neighbourhood of Christianshavn is down to earth, filled with charming canals and carry much of the same maritime history. Christianshavn should without a doubt be included in your trip to Holmen.
